Desi Gomito Bake

Who doesn’t love Pasta?  The creamy, melting and delectable pieces of this traditional and extremely versatile Italian cuisine captivate us in every sense leaving no reason to criticize. Made from Durum wheat flour and water, the pasta manufacturing process goes through various stages finally getting converted into ready to use pasta available to buy. Available in numerous shapes and sizes each have a name of its own elucidating its structure. Gomito is bent tube shaped pasta which resembles an elbow. Used in a variety of dishes worldwide with even more variety of sauces to complement, one could easily think up a recipe using pasta. Following is one such recipe with a twist of Indian spices.

Macaroni- 500g
Prawns- 1 cup
Chicken- 1 cup
Onion – 1
Tomato- 4 nos.
Green chilli- 4 nos.
Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
Tomato sauce – 3 tbsp
Soya sauce- 1 tsp
Pepper- 1 ½ tsp
Garam masala- 1 tsp
Turmeric- ½ tsp
Mayonnaise- 2 tbsp
Capsicum (Bell pepper) – 1
Mozzarella
Salt as required
1. Clean and cook the chicken and prawns separately. Save the stock for later use. Crush the chicken into small pieces, though not fully minced. The shredded chicken will make up to 200gms or almost 1 cup.
2. Boil the macaroni with 1 tsp oil and some salt. When almost done, strain it and keep aside.
3. In a pan, add some oil. Sauté the finely chopped onions and when almost brown, add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies to the pan. Keep stirring on a very low flame.
4. Add ginger garlic paste, pepper, turmeric, garam masala powder and salt.
5. Stir in the sliced capsicum. Add the macaroni and mix all the ingredients well.
6. Add the tomato and soya sauce followed by mayonnaise.
7. Finally add the chicken and prawns with a little stalk. Mix well and switch off the flame.
8. Thoroughly combine all the ingredients and place it in a baking dish. Add mozzarella cheese on top generously and bake it for 20-25 minutes or till done.
9. Slice and serve hot with white sauce.
• All the vegetables used are of medium size. The quantity of ingredients added could be varied to suit your needs.
