Response: ‘Muslim Homosexual!? Why Not Muslim Polytheist’

Gay-Muslim_fb_106443

A response to http://www.interactive.net.in/content/muslim-homosexuals-why-there-much-fuss-around

This article seems to be promoting homosexuality to the youth

1. It explains through some quotes how to be a gay and what actions could be done to be a gay
2. If your parents or your society objects to it, this article gives you a complete textual argument how to fool them by quoting people like Scott Siraj al Haq Kugle, Ziauddin Sardar, Taha Husayn etc. by giving wonderful adjectives like ‘illustrious scholar’. Hope this website is not planning to open a gay club.

The heading- ‘Muslim Homosexuals’ is like saying ‘Muslim polytheist’, ‘Muslim Pervert’, Muslim drunkard or a ‘Muslim adulterer’. The author seems to be having difficulty in saying Islam does not give absolute freedom and the moment a person calls himself a Muslim, some things are forbidden, period. Those ‘illustrious scholars’ and their interpretation just want to make the readers feel that homosexuality is not forbidden. Read the following verses from the Quran

The people of Lut rejected the messengers. Behold, their brother Lut said to them: “Will ye not fear (Allah)? I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. So fear Allah and obey me. No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds.
Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, And leave those whom
Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing
(all limits)!”

They said: “If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!”

He said: “I do detest your doings.” (Surat ash-Shuara: 160-168)

We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: “Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.” And his people gave no
answer but this: they said, “Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!” (Surat al-Araf: 80-82)

Once it is forbidden, if a person still does it then he needs to seek Allah’s forgiveness and it is Allah’s will to forgive him or not. So the question of ‘Muslim Homosexuals’ does not arise as such an action cannot be connected with the words ‘Islam’ or ‘Muslims’. So now I wonder why Islam interactive is using the word ‘Islam’

If a person commits adultery, in a normal Muslim community we do not discuss it, because this discussion may lead to glorification and then could be a norm. This article is unfortunately seeking to discuss and then glorify something which Allah has forbidden. Beware.
