Jacob Zuma Elected President of South Africa
Jacob zuma has been elected the South African president for a second term by the Parliament on Wednesday. Zuma is the only candidate nominated in Parliament to serve a second term as the President of South Africa.
Zuma presently heads the liberation leader Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress (ANC). His image has been tarnished recently by a scandal over the spending of around $23 million dollars of state funds on his rural home. However, the graft allegations were brushed aside and he was offered a second term by the ANC-dominated parliament, which was voted in favour in elections earlier this month.
Zuma is due to be sown in on Saturday, 24 May and is expected to announce his new cabinet on Sunday.
