Muscat’s Only Opera House Opened for Public
The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is now open every morning, 8.30 am to 10.30 am, seven days a week , for public visits. The tourists can see the insides of the magnificent building known for its Omani architecture, the main foyer with its impressive and grand staircase, the theatre and even get a glimpse of the stage from the balconies.
According to Dr Nasser Al Taee, adviser to the ROHM Board of Directors for Education and Community Outreach,the region’s only opera house is becoming one of the main tourist destinations and is attracting tourists and locals alike. More weekly visits for students are also being planned in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
Not only opera, but western classical music, Islamic and Arabic music, jazz and various other things come under the program schedules. The response to this tourist friendly move has been good so far and is expected to rise in coming days.
