Talks between Iran and P5+1 under way
Technical talks between Iran and P5+1 to implement the landmark nuclear deal has advanced said Iran’s deputy negotiator Abbas Araqchi. P5+1 consisting of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council- United States, Russia,China, United Kingdom, and France plus Germany was constituted in 2006 to arrive at an agreement with Iran as regards its nuclear programme. “They are going to submit their conclusions to the vice-ministers and political heads because there are still questions to be resolved on the political level,” Abbas said, stressing that “the experts had done their work”.
The meeting held in Geneva extended for nearly twenty three hours ending at 7 a.m. (0600 GMT). A meeting with Olga Schmitt the deputy to the European Union foreign policy head Catherine Ashton, will be held next week. Catherine Ashton has been representing the P5+1 group in Tehran. The experts will be presenting their reports to the deputies and political directors.
