Adieu to an Ignited Mind

abdul-kalam_13

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was a versatile personality. He was the 11th President of India; an outstanding space scientist- having had an illustrious career at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) giving his signature to both India’s civilian space and military missile development programs; an orator and a writer. He provided motivation for future talents through his works such as Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds, and Indomitable Spirits that are best sellers and are counted among the classics in motivational literature.

Though we don’t share many of his political, scientific and even philosophical ideas, we think that his demise on the evening of 27 July 2015 after he collapsed while delivering a lecture on ‘Livable Planet’ at Indian Institute of Management Shillong is a great loss to his readers, especially children, the community of scientists, and, above all, critics whom he has inspired and will continue to inspire.

Interactive shares the grief with our readers.
