Responding to his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Shariff’s letter of June 2, Prime Minsiter of India Narendra Modi said that he was looking forward to an Indo-Pak relationship defined by peace, friendship and cooperation that would lead both the countries to progress across the region.

Condemning the terror attack in Karachi, Modi conveyed condolences to the survivors of those who were killed in “the senseless and barbaric attack.”

Modi said according to the text of the letter released by Pakistan on Friday: “I look forward therefore to working closely with you and your government in an atmosphere free from confrontation and violence in order to chart a new course in our bilateral relations.”

In his letter, Shariff expressed satisfaction over his visit for attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Modi Government
